shafted! interactive chair 2002

pine frame with upholstered poly urethane foam, housing gas struts with release mechanism.

the design is an exploration of form hiding function and a product relying on the user to make it whole.

shafted! remains in its current form until sat upon when the outside moves up around the user to form the arm rests and back of the chair.

after use, shafted! needs to be restored to its orignal form by the user in preparation for the next user.
