Sorry Ladies…

Sunday, September 26th, 2010

Things have been quiet lately due to planning my wedding that happened on the 12th Sep 2010.  I am hoping my new found marital bless will translate into more products or even time to produce the old ones, skase, skase, skase I hear you say.

36 hours, 9 trains, 3 coaches, a ferry and numerous taxis assisted in my return from a very productive Salone in Milan.  Many thanks to everybody that came to my stand and tried my 3D experience, especially to those that told me it was better than Tom Dixon’s!  It was my last Satellite and I wanted to go out with a bang and judging by the response I did.  I am looking forward to a new challenge next year, if anybody has any requests I am all ears.

Steve Watson
Virtually There

Milan 2010 Press Release

An exhibition of new designs at the 2010 SaloneSatellite during the
annual Salone Internazionale del Mobile.

Virtually There is an exhibition of five new product designs that aren’t
really there. By utilising the possibilities afforded by 3D modeling
software and 3D projection, Steve Watson presents a range of new designs
that only exist in the virtual world. Rather than working, as he has
previously, within the usual constraints of time, budget and
manufacturing possibilities, Steve has chosen to present designs that
are ready for manufacture, but are yet to exist. In part, an exercise in
ideas development, this project is also an exploration of the nature of
reality for designers working in technologically advanced environments
and questions the validity of making prototypes for one-off exhibitions.

On show, in 3D, are the Viol occasional chair, the Push chaise longue,
the Pursuit set of drinking glasses, the BTA tap set and the Futur Floor
Lamp.
